Our Favorite Chicken Lady
In January, mom noticed some sudden visual changes and thanks to the advice of a dear friend, didn't hesitate to get it checked out right away.
Miraculously, mom was able to get in quickly to several doctors who responded immediately with thorough testing. Within a week, mom received results that she had a brain tumor which was causing the loss of her peripheral vision in her right eye. She was referred to an expert neurosurgeon here in Idaho right away and within a matter of two weeks was scheduled for brain surgery to remove the tumor and to get it biopsied. She was very well cared for by St. Luke's and the entire neurosurgeon team but despite the excellent care and successful surgery, the biopsy results came back that she had a grade 4 glioblastoma.
After consulting with her oncology team, mom opted to move forward with their recommendations for further treatment which brings us to where we are now just finishing up week two of radiation and chemo.
It's been a shocking, overwhelming, very sobering, and hope-filled 8 weeks. We've seen some incredible tender mercies and so much love and support that our hearts could burst. Mom is amazing us with her bravery, clarity of mind, faith and perseverance. Her abiding testimony of a loving Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ has deepened and she has been ever so grateful to feel many reassurances from heaven.
I'll end this first post with this sweet interaction mom had with her chemo oncologist the week after surgery.
Mom said, "you know, I'm a very religious person and I believe in the power of prayer. I have little kids, Catholics, and everyone else praying for me." And he said, "Well, you know, I believe in studies and studies show that prayer works, so double down!"
We cannot thank you enough for pleading our case to heaven. Your prayers have truly strengthened and sustained us. We have truly felt the power that comes through prayer. We have seen it and continue to see it in little and big ways. Thank you so very much!

P.S.S. Speaking of mom's chickens...they are doing well but I think they knew something was up with mom as they were not laying for weeks! I was here for three weeks in Feb and only saw one egg! Now they are all laying regularly and we take it as a good sign!
