MRI Results and Makeovers

Naturally, we started off the week with cards and beautiful blooms for Mother's day. Mark and Angie sent a gorgeous bouquet for mom to enjoy. It was a special day for mom with several wonderful things in the days following.  


Mom had her follow-up MRI post radiation and chemo. A few days later, the results indicated that there are no traces of the glioblastoma and no recurrence anywhere to be found. After all mom has been through, this was the BEST NEWS EVER! Her radiation oncologist discharged her and handed everything over to her chemo oncologist who we are now continuing treatment with. 

For Mother's Day, mom got new leather couches. Her designer feather couches have served her well over the years and she was ready for something new. We did a little shopping and found the perfect leather set. It suits her great room perfectly and she's loving the new look. 


The next makeover came when the young women in her ward came over to give her garden beds some new life. They planted several flowers and tomato plants. It was just what her backyard needed. It has certainly brightened everything up back there. We are so grateful for the loving service we received and the sweet notes and uplifting messages shared in mom's new darling garden book.

Half Way Through Treatment

Our darling mom is feeling relatively good after the end of week three. Bravo! She's been a little more tired from the radiation and chemo which is to be expected but overall she has been tolerating this phase of treatment well. She's had a bit of energy to putz around the house and in the backyard doing little things here and there. Then she enjoys a little break. We had a good visit with mom's chemo oncologist on Thursday. Her numbers are good and we are feeling confident moving forward. We were advised on medication dosages to help keep gout symptoms at bay. This was a huge relief to mom as she experienced a flare up early last week.  Mom has been loving all the special treatment these last few weeks! Under "normal" conditions, being chauffeured around town, wheeled around for quick appointments and having a personal chef and assistant would be considered a dream come true. A Glorious Star, A Humble Manger and Two Adoring Hens

Several years ago, mom wanted a new display in her front yard for Christmas. Mark helped bring her idea to realization and so she has enjoyed a glorious star, a humble manger and two adoring hens as the main feature in her outdoor Christmas display. She loved to create beautiful things, and this display is certainly one of them. It represents so much about mom, her love and reverence for the Lord, her desire to follow and share His light and her love for gathering family and friends together like a hen gathers her chicks. We understand there were many who did not get the chance to visit mom before her passing. We appreciate your love and desire to visit mom and wish that everyone could have had a chance to see her once more.  Despite not being able to see everyone, Mark put up mom's outdoor display this year to share her love for her friends and her community in hopes that she will be remembered for the beautiful, vibrant, fun, full of life and generous person that she was. ...
